yes, i am going to blog about HP
so i went to the midnight screening of Half Blooded Prince last night, with my swollen post-wisdom-teeth-op cheeks. i was disappointed, but ultimately confused. the movie seemed unpolished and lacked the humanity that makes me such a huge HP fan. what was that david yates??
-sad they cut out: 1)the fight @ hogwarts and 2) dumbledore's funeral
-i appreciated the more ominous tone, but found bruno delbonnel's visual effects self-indulgent and random (owl during dumbledore's speech, snowman on cake?)
-hogwarts & dumbledore were not magical (except for that owl)
-ginny & harry chemistry/ relationship weirded me out (also her bathrobe)
- i love ron, but why was lavender so obsessed? no character motivation.
-redeeming qualities: luna, malfoy, RON, those 3 death eaters that crashed into hogwarts' forcefield
-this review reflects my thoughts:

...the movie did not lead into the Half Blood Prince character buildup until towards the end when we-know-who finally simply said, I am THE HBP... A lot of mundane stuff which gave credence to the movie could have been given more substance than just silly one-liners. I wonder if the movie version was dumbed down? The script did not flow; seems more like a teenage entry into the world of Hogwarts rather than a maturing of the central characters in their fight against their one true nemesis. Horcruxes, which are the main plots in the book series' concluding edition, were not given much weight or thought (the book stressed how important they were to defeat Voldemort). One should have read the book in order to tie in the movie scenes, but a lot of lines just fell flat and seemed totally random. I hope that the last book adaptation, Deathly Hollows 1 & 2, will be more effective and climactic.

farewell MJ
spent the morning watching the memorial with popo and gonggong. they cried too. while grandma asked for translation, gonggong sang "peatit peatit" while reminiscing about his first taste of KFC given by the IRC.
